We often drive around Sydney’s harbour and see all these beautiful Islands and never get to go and have a visit. A wedding is a great opportunity for you and your guests to enjoy one of Sydney’s premier locations. An island wedding photography location in Sydney.
Surrounded by water with spectacular views towards Sydney, it feels like being on an adventure. This idea didn’t escape the lovely couple Brooke and Tim. Brooke grew up in the inner west and having viewed Rodd Island every week several times over the years made a decision long ago that this was going to be the wedding location for her. Once Tim proposed, it was just a case of making all the arrangements to have the caterers set up there for the reception.
TIm and Brooke had a church ceremony at the Star of the Sea, catholic church in Watson’s Bay. It was a very short walk down to the wharf afterwards to board the ferry that was going to take everyone to the Rodd Island. An intense blue sky, drinks plentiful and an delicious assortment of food made this cruise memorable harbour cruise. Guests enjoyed this fine weather, relaxed atmosphere and trip past all the most iconic Sydney landmarks.
By the time everyone got off board the mood was very jovial and ready to party. Tim and Brooke had organised a BBQ style reception with a large variety of salads and goodies. Sitting either at at table or out on the grass you felt like you were at a giant picnic with family and friends. All of the formalities that one has at a wedding unfolded in a relax manner. Speeches and cutting of the cake were in the large shed and the bridal waltz started a huge dance party on the lawn. Music up full blast for all the guests to feel as if they were at an out door music festival. Those seeking a quiet spot could walk around this magnificent island to sit and chill out under the shade of a tree.
There were so many natural and candid moments to capture. From the church to the island and back again to Sydney, it was easy to just be an observer and take plenty of photos without being noticed. I love it when there are so many opportunities like this. I get inspired and it makes for great wedding photography.
